Khala JeanBaptiste is the Assistant Principal of Lower Academy at Cesar Chavez Public Charter School. A proud DMV native and graduate of Prince George's County Public Schools, her educational journey then took her to Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a Pre-Law concentration. She earned a Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Instruction, Curriculum, and Assessment at the University of Denver's Morgridge College of Education.

Ms. JeanBaptiste began her career in education as a World History teacher. Some of her favorite units to teach included World War I and the Imperialism of Africa, as she loved helping students connect historical events to the world we live in today.

From the classroom, Ms. JeanBaptiste transitioned into the role of High School Dean of Students, discovering a passion for instructional leadership, student culture, and supporting both students and teachers in reaching their fullest potential.

One of the most incredible experiences of Ms. JeanBaptiste’s journey was the opportunity to live in Japan, where she served as the Assistant Director of Child and Youth Programs, supporting military-connected children and families stationed overseas. Living abroad expanded her perspective on education, leadership, and community. 

Outside of school, Ms. JeanBaptiste enjoys traveling, exploring new restaurants, cheering on the Rattlers (FAMU!), and spending time with family and friends.

Christina Cook is the Assistant Principal of High School at Cesar Chavez Public Charter School. With more than 20 years of experience in education, she is a dedicated instructional leader committed to fostering academic excellence, empowering educators, and creating meaningful opportunities for student success.

Throughout her career, Ms. Cook has led professional learning in literacy, leadership, and instructional practices, drawing on expertise developed through the Reading and Writing Project at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her commitment to education has earned her numerous honors, including The Washington Post's Agnes Meyer Teacher of the Year and multiple Teacher of the Year awards.

A proud graduate of Spelman College and American University, Ms. Cook is passionate about developing future leaders, building strong school communities, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive.
