Core Values

Our core values are driven by our desire to empower scholars to become change agents in their communities and in the world. These values guide the ways we interact with our scholars, our partners and with the community at large. They are:

Be Respectful

Chavez scholars show they are respectful by communicating clearly, passionately, and appropriately; listening actively and reflectively; acknowledging and accepting the differences of others; engaging in continuous and conscious acts of kindness; and displaying self-discipline and self-control.

Be Responsible

Chavez scholars show they are responsible by always being honest and transparent; taking ownership of their actions; prioritizing their obligations and commitments; being reliable and trustworthy; and, being proactive in addressing issues.

Be Ready to Learn

Chavez scholars show they are ready to learn by having a positive attitude and an open-mind; having all necessary materials; actively participating; maintaining eye contact with the speaker.
