After School Programs

The One World Academy is an accelerated learning program designed to strengthen students' research, writing, and presentation skills while engaging them in social justice issues they are passionate about.

Our Minds Matter is a nonprofit organization dedicated to equipping adolescents with mental health education, resources, and support to promote wellness and help prevent teen suicide.

Through a partnership with the Youth Democracy Institute (YDI) and Chavez Schools, the Emerging Leaders Academy provides students in grades 9–12 with eight weeks of leadership development focused on civic engagement. The program includes interactive workshops, guided discussions, leadership-building activities, potential field experiences, and concludes with a student-led showcase for families and the school community.

In partnership with the Network for Developing Conscious Communities (NDCC), this program empowers youth to assess environmental challenges affecting Southeast DC, particularly Ward 7. Students gain hands-on experience in environmental justice, community research, and advocacy while developing solutions that promote healthier, more sustainable communities.
