Parkside Middle School Leadership Bios
Principal - William Massey
William Massey is a native of Detroit, Michigan and very early on he made a commitment to serve communities similar to the ones in which he grew up. After majoring in Public Policy and graduating from Michigan State University, Mr. Massey embarked on his professional career and life-long purpose as an educator.
Mr. Massey quickly moved to the Dallas Fort Worth Area, and that is where all his work in Title One schools began. He taught middle school Social Studies and high school Theatre Arts in Grand Prairie Texas. He was recognized as a leader early on and served as an Instructional Coach. William went on to serve in the Garland Independent School District at O’Banion Middle School where he served as a full-time Social Studies teacher and obtained his Masters of Education from Concordia University in Educational Administration. While at O’Banion Middle School, Mr. Massey served as an Administrative Intern where he led several initiatives around developing strong Professional Learning Communities and producing strong student cultures. Mr. Massey went on work as an Assistant Principal at Billy Earl Dade Middle School and H. Grady Spruce High School in the Dallas Independent School District. At both Spruce and Dade Mr. Massey worked on numerous improvement projects, revising the means of providing student remediation for struggling students, implementing data-driven instructional strategies, and coaching teachers to sustained growth in the classroom. Mr. Massey’s relentless focus on school improvement and school turnaround led him to his current post as Principal of our Parkside Middle and High School campus.
Mr. Massey is excited about continuing to provide the leadership necessary to build and instill a culture of excellence at Parkside Middle and High School. He is very proud of the growth his staff and students have made in year one and is looking forward to the great things year two will bring. Student achievement serves not only as a metric for him, but it serves as his motivation to do what he does for children as relates to fulfilling his life’s purpose.

Assistant Dean of Students - Tonya Allen
As a Washington DC native, Ms. Allen is excited to work in a school setting to provide her commitment to youth success. She has fifteen years of clinical mental health and crisis intervention experience. Before coming to Chavez Ms. Allen worked at a Mental Health Agency implementing goals and interventions to improve behavior skills and student and parent engagement.
She received a Bachelor’s degree in Human Ecology, minor in Childhood Development from University of Maryland Eastern Shore. She earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Bowie State University. Tonya passion is seeing the developmental growth in inner city youth and finding the best techniques to improve.
