Chavez Schools are public and open to all. Whether your family has been in Washington, DC, for generations, or you’re new here, we welcome you into our school community.
With our schools’ focus on public policy, and on preparing all students for college, we view the Trump administration’s decision to end the DACA program for undocumented youth as bad policy. It’s wrongheaded economically, educationally and socially. Above all, it’s morally wrong.
Many members of our school community have shared stories about their journeys to this country. Their determination is inspiring, and their strength during this uncertain time is remarkable. We will continue to support them and all Chavez students in accessing college and succeeding in the workforce.
Chavez Schools join with other public charter schools and public school districts across the United States in calling on Congress to enact within the next six months a permanent solution that will allow our undocumented friends to continue without fear their educations, jobs and contributions to their communities.
