Greetings From The Athletic Director

Greetings from the Chavez Schools Athletic Department!

Thank you for taking the time to explore our athletic department. I cannot find the words to express the joy that I have found serving as the Athletic Director for Chavez Schools as well as the proud parent of a Parkside High School Alumni (2016).

Athletics were introduced to Chavez in in 2005 and I have served as the AD for the past 11  years of the program. With the combining of the three Chavez communities- Capitol Hill, Parkside, and Chavez Prep- we are building our program out to be quite extraordinary.

We are thrilled to provide several opportunities for scholars to participate as scholar athletes, with 10 sports and 28 teams system wide.

Wins and losses are not the driving force of Chavez Athletics. Our mission is to provide a broad-based middle and high charter school athletic program that fosters the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development of a diverse and skilled group of scholar-athletes. Middle and High school athletics are an important part of the heritage and vitality of the Chavez community to provide an opportunity for scholars, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends to share experiences, and by doing so, enhance the cohesiveness of community life.

Participation in the Cesar Chavez PCS athletics program is considered a privilege, not a right. Chavez student-athletes are expected to conduct themselves with honesty, pride, sportsmanship, and integrity at all times. I am proud of the fact that our students and coaching staff exemplify this level of expectation at all times.

Always grateful for the support,

Ernesto Natera
