Chavez Schools Testify at DC Council Committee on Education

Award Winning YA Author Jason Reynolds Visits Parkside!

Monday, award winning Young Adult author, Jason Reynolds, stopped by Parkside Library yesterday as part of his national book tour. Jason's breadth of writing fostered a duel presentation with both middle and high school scholars as he shared his experiences growing up as a DC local and how those influences have come to shape his writing. Once a reluctant reader, himself, Jason shared his rocky path to success and left our scholars with this parting thought: "I get to make a living by telling your story. My moms doesn't have to work, I don't have to work (unless I want to) and my brother can go to college. All on me. Imagine what you could do by telling your own..."

Capitol Hill’s 2nd Annual College Fair a Huge Success!

Saturday, Capitol Hill High School hosted the 2nd Annual Chavez Schools College Fair! In attendance were representatives from Colleges and Universities across the country eager to chat with our scholars and their families!

Trinity Washington University, Lincoln University, Towson University, Bowie State University, Hampton University, and many more were onsite with loads of information about their schools, financial aid, scholarships and the path to college!
